On January 23–24, the 13th Philanthropy Festival and the 2023 ESG Summit was held in Beijing. More than 1,000 representatives from philanthropy, business, academia, and media participated both online and offline, while over 160 distinguished guests served as keynote speakers. During the event, Wu Xubo, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of ZX Inc., was awarded the ESG Pioneer Award.
This year’s philanthropy festival adopted a hybrid “online + offline” format, featuring an opening ceremony, the 2023 Annual Charity Tribute Gala, themed forums, charity initiative releases, and a closing and award ceremony. Additionally, a series of special activities were organized, including film screenings, project roadshows, and the “Responsible Brand Salon.” Multiple enterprises also hosted parallel charity and social responsibility events, further contributing to sustainable and high-quality development.
From “blood transfusion” to “blood creation,” from “traditional charity” to “innovative charity,” and from “niche charity” to “charity for all,” the philanthropy festival has, over the past 13 years, witnessed and driven the transformation and evolution of philanthropy in China. Today, it has become both an important platform for exchange and collaboration in the philanthropic sector and a stage for annual gatherings of charity practitioners.
Practicing ESG principles and building a new future of high-quality development has become a shared consensus. Increasingly, institutions and enterprises are actively embracing ESG, contributing to a sustainable and high-quality future through strengthened environmental awareness, social responsibility, and improved governance structures—ultimately working toward the vision of collaborative and mutually beneficial growth. Wu Xubo, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of ZX Inc., stated that under the guidance of China’s “dual carbon” strategy, enterprises are placing ESG at the core of their development strategies, continuously innovating in technology, business models, and ecosystems to advance responsible and sustainable business.
